What Is Laparoscopic AI
and How Does It Work ?

If you are participating in the Valais Blacknose Sheep Breed Up program
you will need to know about laparoscopic artificial insemination.
(Frozen semen doesn't go in through the normal way.)
You've found your ewes, you bought your frozen semen, and now
you are ready to get your ewe bred.
Most ewes in this Valais Blacknose Sheep Breed Up program are seasonal breeders.
This means you can't just breed them all year long.
Typically this time is the Fall.
So to get all of your sheep ready to be inseminated at the same time,
you first will coordinate a date with your laparoscopic AI expert.
Please note that you should schedule your date with your LAP AI expert
months in advance. They are often booked WAY INTO THE FUTURE !
Your Veterinarian likely CANNOT do this.
If your Vet says he has "done a few sheep", remember the cost of semen
can be expensive
plus the cost of the Laparoscopic AI
plus the potential loss of time.
Please choose someone who "knows" and does this often.
You may have to look in your area or some will travel to you,
but you have to make an appointment ahead of time.
Having your Lap AI person store more straws for you
is generally very INEXPENSIVE.
A suggestion is to buy and store more than you need.
Just something to think about.
Next thing when you have all of this coordinated is to
FOLLOW THE PROTOCOL given to you by your lap AI person.
